Everyone has been good! Everyone! And I'm not just saying that because I can't remember everybody's name. Literally everybody that had a hand in taking care of me here has been GREAT.
I am an RN who unfortunately contracted COVID-19. I was initially admitted to UTMB Clear Lake but was transferred to Kindred Clear Lake for continued treatment and physical therapy. Upon arrival I was admitted into the COVID unit. I had never been ill with a respiratory illness before and would often PANIC because I could not breathe! My first nurse Vella was sent to me by God! She would stay by my bedside and show me tricks and techniques for slowing my breathing and calming myself down. She was so soothing and reassuring and was always telling me that I WAS going to get better and I COULD get through this! Vella is SUCH an asset to Kindred and I hope they all know how valuable she is! Without her I don't know how I would have gotten through those first few days. Roderick was my primary care NP. He came to see me on my first day and said "how are you?" I said, "well, I'm good but not doing much" He said, "I'm about to change that!!" From that moment on it was a whirlwind of PT, OT rehab rehab rehab!! It's like he lit a fire underneath everyone on the therapy team and they GOT ON IT!! I felt like I became their project and they were all committed to getting an A on that project! When I was transferred up to the med/surg unit my first day I was laying in bed and heard someone singing and laughing down the hallway and I knew I was in the right place. Everyone who works here is SO HAPPY! The nurses and CNA's were all so incredibly sweet. Always attentive. Always kind. Always caring. Respiratory therapy has some extremely knowledgeable people on their team! They all knew so much about COVID and how it affects your lungs. They were continually telling me what I could expect as I recovered and alway took the time to answer all of my many questions. The FOOD WAS AMAZING!! My phone is full of pictures of all of my meals. I was never hungry and frequently offered snacks. Before I got sick and came to Kindred food was just kind of something I HAD to do but after being here and eating all of the amazing meals I am all of the sudden extremely interested in food and food prep! I have even started watching cooking shows to try and learn how to prepare a meal as delicious as the ones I have had here! My case manager Jamie was so helpful and so genuine and I could tell she really cared about my needs. Paul with OT kept me laughing (which also helped my lungs!) Glessing was attentive and so cute and observant. Even if she didn't look like she was watching me I know she always had an eye on me during therapy! Kindred Clear Lake embodies what TEAMWORK should be!!! Great hospital, great staff!! HIGHLY recommend!!!
From my very first day of being hospitalized at Kindred I found all staff, doctors, nurses, resp therapists and team from rehab department did a really a great job. They all played a specific role in helping with my speedy recovery. I am so blessed to have had all the help I got from this great staff of Kindred. Now I can go home to my family! Thank you Thank you Thank you for a great job!!
I came to Kindred Clear Lake for follow up care after I had COVID-19. My doctor, Dr. Gupta was good! She listened to me and was willing to let me fully participate in my care plan. My case manager Maria was very helpful and kept me informed about all of the insurance processes. Jo and Larry with physical therapy were awesome. They were so encouraging and worked with me to build up endurance and strength. On the days that I felt like I was too tired they were very understanding and didn't force me to do anything I didn't have the strength to do. I am a very religious woman and spent a lot of time talking to the staff about my faith and my belief in God. No one ever made me feel like they didn't want to hear it and very politely listened to me. I am also an older, modest woman so I feel more comfortable in being cleaned and bathed by another woman. Every time I had a male nurse or tech and requested a female attend to me they never got offended and very quickly would go find someone who could help me. Overall my nurses were all excellent. I am SO EXICTED that I get to go home and I know I owe so much to the staff and caregivers at Kindred Clear Lake.
All of the nurses have been great. CNA's as well. Jessica stands out as one of my favorite nurses. They have all been very kind and caring. The food was good! Wound care was amazing. Mia was always available and has a great attitude. She took her time with me and explained step by step what she was doing for me. I feel comfortable going home because Mia educated me on how to care for my appliance. Dr. Mohammed was so patient with me and always willing to take the time to speak with my husband and answer all of our questions. Jaime and Sam from pharmacy would make a point to stop and chat with me every time they brought my medications. Jaime was also very good about educating me on what all of my medications are and what they do for me. Paul and Glessing from OT were great! They helped me with just about anything I needed and got me up and moving..... My room was always nice and clean and quiet. Visiting hours are very open which was also very important to me. I got to see my husband every day! I had never heard of an LTACH before so my husband and I did some research and found Kindred Clear Lake and I am so glad we did!
I have been treated very very well. Far beyond my expectations! I have had attentive, gentle care. Everyone here does so much more than just their job! They are all so observant and responsive and you can tell they really care. The food has been excellent. Meal times are realistic and the food is always warm. Each of my care givers from the nurses to the CNA's have been amazing in their own way and I cannot say enough about how much I appreciate their care! This was my first experience at an LTACH so I was a little bit unsure of what to expect but now that I have been here and seen everything they have done for me I cant say enough about how great my stay has been!
This is a 5 star facility! I know a lot of people here and I've known about Kindred 25 years. All my good doctors come here which are all factors that helped me choose Kindred! Joe in therapy stands out. She is an early person that comes to see me in the morning which works best for me. Larry from therapy is the BEST OT for me. He is so friendly and happy. That reflects in my stay. When he opens the door, you can see the light! It gave me so much strength. I used to have so much pain that I could not walk. Now my pain level is 60% better. I want to commend nurses Michelle my night nurse. She will go above and beyond her role and help where ever its needed. Even helping the C.N.A duties. I did not like working with Vella as much. She wasn't on time with my medications like the others were. Everyone else has been so good. I wish I could mention all their names, but this would be too long!
I attended Kindred Clearlake. Housekeeping dietary doctors and physical therapist were great. They had my care lined out and my daily itenerary with tests exams and blood work ready for each day. If I had physical therapy they worked me into the schedule and the instructors were prompt to start the therapy session. At first they analyzed my limits to see what I was able to do and what I was in here for. Then later we would work together for 2 hours give or take. It was like having my own personal trainer. He would oversee me to make sure I was working to the best of my ability without exceeding my limits. The team of doctors that oversaw my recovery were very attentive and managed my recovery very well. The wound care nurses and doctors would see me every 24 hours to check my wounds and bandages to monitor and prevent infection. Sheri the nurse was quick to recognize that I wasn't thrilled with my diet and offered me Boost supplements. They ended up improving my nutrition and lab scores. She is always attentive and people friendly with great customer service. She makes me feel informed and relaxed. If it was up to me I'd stay here to complete my entire treatment plan. I'll choose to come back for future services if needed.
I wondered if everyone was screened when they hired on because it seemed that everyone had such a caring spirit from the minute I walked in. All of the nurses have been concerned about my care and my recovery. The nurses and techs watched over my care closely and made sure I got things timely. Nurse Comfort was always proactive and showed up right on time. Heather would work with me on the weekends. She helped care for me physically, mentally and emotionally. She was always there for me and I appreciate her. In fact, every nurse that I had were great, but those two stand out the most. The therapy team, Glesson and Paul could tell when I needed to get out of my room and go outside. They would take me out for fresh air. They made me feel like people really cared. Housekeeping, dietary, and every other department has been courteous and kind. I never thought a hospital stay could be such a blessing. If I ever had to be in a hospital for an extended amount of time, this is the place!
You are making a wise choice by going to Kindred Clear Lake. My experience has been outstanding. They work as a team and are friendly in every way. Staff go out of there way to be helpful. From the cafe staff all the way to the head nurse and administrators they do whatever it takes to make sure you are comfortable and have a good stay. There were many employees that stand out. Janie, Sharon, Anna in ICU, Kay in Respiratory were all so friendly. They came to me and befriended me in a time that I really needed it. Alma spent some very rough nights with me and she stayed so calm the entire time which helped me relax. I knew she knew what she was doing and I could trust that I would be taken care of. Victor is such a delight. There is never a time he doesn't have a smile. The therapy team is superb. Larry and I came up with a plan and set up goals. He explained that they work as a team and was very reassuring that anyone on the team could get me where I needed to go. Katy, Paul, and Aaron were all fantastic and are extremely knowledgeable in their field. There is power in prayer and Janeth recognized that I needed a different kind of support from someone else. She took time out to pray with me. That was a pick me up and made me realize that prayer works and there are many out there fighting battles worse than ours. My list goes on and on too long to list them all. I have made progress here and I'm ready to go to the next step. Just like Ellen says on her show everyday, "Be kind to one another." That's what I've found here.
