We’ve encountered so many problems in this place. Here are just a few: 1) Food is awful. My mother, who is a vegetarian, asked for a vegetarian menu. The menu lists many meal options. Yet she has been served the same meal (over and over and over) - a dried out black bean burger. 2) Some (not all) of the aides have been condensing and impatient with my mom, which is demoralizing to her and her family. 3) There is no written schedule for physical therapy or occupational therapy. It’s impossible to know when the PTs and OTs are going to show up. My mom has not had PT for 5 days straight and there is no excuse for that. 4) My mom did not receive a shower for 5 days straight and now only receives a shower 2 times per week. 5) When we push the button for an aide or a nurse, it usually takes at least 30 minutes or more for anyone to arrive. 6) A nurse practitioner reprimanded me for bringing my mom a medication that had been prescribed by her doctor. It was clearly labeled. I brought it to her because, based on our experience, the process for obtaining prescriptions onsite is slow and disorganized. When my mother first arrived, she waited 3 days for a medication and then it was misplaced (or lost/stolen from the nurses’ station). I did not appreciate being reprimanded by the nurse practitioner. She also took the medication away even though it was clearly labeled and prescribed by a doctor.

There are some caring, nice and sweet staff. For example, Kena has been kind and responsive. But overall, this place is not good.

Not at all! I had to schedule an appointment for absolutely everything!

First of all, look at some of these reviews with a grain-of-salt. I noticed that with a short survey, the review was written for me. You'll be able to tell which were written by hand.

My grandmother was there for 2 weeks for rehab. Once she was walking again, we had to take her out because she stopped eating. My basic issue with this place is no one seems to know what the other is doing. I was told "I don't know" on more than one occasion on basic questions like did she eat today? Does she still have diarrhea? When I was told an answer, if I asked someone else the same question I was given a different answer. You would think that more records would be keep on that kind of thing. They didn't seem to even notice she wasn't eatting 2 of her meals a day (I wasn't there for breakfast).

In the time that I spent there (about 4-6 hours a day for two weeks) I saw the staff and volunteers to engage the people but mostly everyone is in the common room was sleeping or catatonic. One time I tried to do a puzzle (that I had to bring from home) with my G'ma and had 2 people to come over and participate. It's clear that more one-on-one engagement is needed.

I have to say that residents did seem to be bathed and fed daily. Our tech, Douglas, was VERY patient and really seemed to try. My G'ma wasn't the easiest person to deal with and he was great with her.

Unless you loved one is basically catatonic or beyond mental stimulation, I would NOT recommend Lorien.

Not at all, their office smelled fantastic!

Not at all, they had plenty of staff members to help me whenever I needed assistance

Absolutely! I knew I was being cared for by an expert!

Not one bit! I felt much better when I left!
