I have an elderly mom who is their for rehab. I was taken back by their empty rehabilitation room, where is the equipment.? I also had an issue with my moms belongings which have gone missing. They pride themselves as a rehab facility, which i can understand because that is where they make their money not in long term care. Before you consider placing a loved on here take a look at their rehab room its almost empty no machinery !!!

We're do I start this place is a disgrace. My mother who is fairly young went from the hospital to Hudson valley rehabilitation and extended care due to weakness. She originally read the reviews online about this place and was concerned about her care there due to she has significant sized wounds. She questioned the hospitals case management about this place and its reviews, they said They have sent plenty of people there. Well apparently they never saw this place because if they did maybe they wouldn't be recommending it.When my mother pulled up in an ambulance there was give or take 20 residents some in wheelchairs some not sitting near the entrance smoking. Then inside all the hallways on each side was crowded with wheelchairs with patients in them, to the point the stretcher could barely fit. Talk about a fire hazard. Then the care got worse. My mother wanted to leave right away. The nurses were Arguing with her, they wanted to take her unna boots off on Friday and leave them off till Monday. And the nurse would not listen. My mother instructed the nurses and told them there unna boots there a 7 day wound dressing. The nurse said if they need to they will just put a ace bandage around her legs then till moday if needed. My mother has lymphedema and you can't leave the unna boots off or her legs will swell and the wounds will get worse and increase in size. And with lymphedema ace bandages have a turn a kit effect. Then when that happened my mother wanted to leave, worried for her saftey and health. The nurse kept trying to convince her to stay, I swear it was like the nurse was trying to brainwash her into listening, like there ideas were the right ones. And her thinking was wrong. There was just something so wrong, it was like dealing with a con artist. The supervisier then came in because They had heard that my mother wanted to leave, the superviser was defensive and rude for no reason. And said that since my mother wasn't being admitted to the rehab, they couldn't help her to the car, which I can understand. But went as far as even saying you can't even borrow a wheelchair, you have to leave on your own. Then said in order to leave you still have to see the in house rehab doctor. That was a joke. I called my moms doctor who overseen her care at the hospital and was the one who discharged her. My moms doctor had a catheter put in while she was in the hospital and they said it was okay if it was removed. The rehab doctor refused because he said he didn't think it should be taken out. I swear it seemed like he said that on purpose. So we left, and drove to the hospital ER waited 4 hours to take this catheter out. End of story this place is disgusting, filthy, the nursing and supervising staff is inadequate. This is not the right place for anyone especially those with wounds. We were worried about my mothers health and safety if she stayed there. And if you have to send someone to this place I hope you think twice. I wouldn't even send my worst enemy here. And it makes me sad to see that our older population is being such poorly cared for because of places like this one that are allowed to remain open.I believe the reviews you will find online are probably very true. So please think twice, take caution when considering this place to care for someone you love.

I did not feel safe at all in their care. I definitely had doubts about their qualifications. When comparing them to others in their field, I would say they are by far the worst I have ever seen. I will never return. I definitely don't trust their advice. They're only concerned about themselves. They weren't horribly inexperienced, but I was hoping for someone with more experience. I wasn't sure they'd be able to help me. The office was very easy to locate. I didn't have any trouble finding it at all.

EMPLOYEE RELATED: They are constantly mandating there nurses (Even when it's against the law; they're only suppose to mandate in case of emergencies, plus there suppose to have a "Nursing Coverage Plan" / back up in case of call-outs/sickness per : http://www.nysna.org/practice/mot/intro.htm & http://www.labor.ny.gov/workerprotection/laborstandards/workers_rights/Mandatory_OT_FAQ.shtm#6 PATIENT CARE RELATED: I've seen nurse with-hold hearing aids (because they don't like the resident/ so they wont hear what the staff is saying; because the resident was related to someone in administration). There are CNA's who don't use gloves when performing cares ect.. Residents have came to me and complained, about being afraid to speak up due to the fear of staff (LPN/CNA) retaliation; quote from a resident on 3W "They're like the mean girls club". This is how the resident feel smh (shaking my head). Also at night some of the staff there would smoke pot (marijuana) and come back to the units with that scent; affecting some of the resident's breathing problems! ADMINISTRATION RELATED: The new DON hired in March of 2012 is unprofessional in and out of the work-place; provocative/inappropriate, no etiquette (you will get spoken to in Ebonics/ street-slang & alot of eye rolling), does not know how to speak employees, cannot diffuse situations by having a meeting and will cut you off abruptly before you can even speak, poor customer-service skills. The Administrator is very cocky (will pretend he is concerned/interested in the issues; then will start talking about how he was a cook there & went back to school so he can run the place) Point blank if you want your family to be taken care of by street-people; most from the ghettos of Poughkeepsie, then by all means place them here!

This rehab care facility is moving in the right direction! I have had to use their services several times over the course of 5 years. (knees, hips, etc.!) The first time I was there, the nursing director could be heard yelling at the nurses and aides. And the help in social services was dreadful. But I recently stayed there in the last month and a half and it's a whole new world! Bravo to whoever started making changes.

My mother was in this nursing home for over a year, only for rehab. The rehab was only suppost to be 3-4 months. They kept her there and didnt do any physical therapy for the first two months she was in. When she had started, her physical therapist would yell at her if she wasnt strong enough to complete her reps. During her stay, she also had her engagment ring stolen from her. It was pretty weird that one day this CNA takes care of my mother, compliments her ring and the next day it was stolen. They didnt give her a key to a lockbox or a drawer - they gave her a tubberware container with a lid on it to store her jewlery in. The second she reports it missing, that floor kicks her out and she had to be moved to another floor. Ive seen nurses that are suppost to help feed the patients, put the patients food down and walk out of the room, and the patient will not have theyre dinner that night, because the're incapable of feeding themselves, the nursing team is suppost to help out those who can't - but they don't. This nursing facility is a joke. They mistreat their patients and don't treat the patients families with any respect or dignity. If i had to choose to live there or die alone when I'm older, I'd rathar die alone in a ditch. If i could choose to give them 0 stars I would have but I had to give them at least one.
