On April 3, 2014, the Oregon Medical Board issued to Dr. Scott Murray a Complaint and Notice of Proposed Disciplinary Action alleging violations of the Medical Practice Act (state law) regarding unprofessional or dishonorable conduct, and gross or repeated acts of negligence.

On July 3, 2014, Dr. Scott Murray entered into an interim stipulated order with the Board which states that Dr. Murray may NOT treat any FEMALE PATIENTS. This order is a public document and is reportable to that National Databank and the Federation of State Medical Boards.

Probably the worst therapist I've seen. Dr. Murray is moody, you never know "who" he is going to be at each appointment. He has double-booked multiple times (given someone else an appointment at the same time as mine and then saying he's sorry -- but I've had to reschedule and spend the money to drive out for the missed appointment because of his disorganization), which doesn't make me feel like much of a priority as a patient. He calls me up at home and apologizes endlessly, but it is really irritating that he isn't better organized to begin with. He has an office alone with no receptionist and at times I get weird vibes from him that I haven't gotten from other male therapists (which is why I finally left and got another doctor). He shares way more personal information than other therapists I've seen (tells me about problems between him & his wife, rivalry between himself and his siblings, deaths of family members, dissatisfaction with nurses he works with at the hospital, and other things that just don't seem appropriate to be sharing with a patient. Has told me he thinks about me outside of our sessions and that he loves me which really weirded me out. I finally had to leave. Maybe that's his way of doing therapy, but it feels intrusive and a little weird.

It's hard to trust someone, especially when the person you trusted the most is the one who betrayed you. That someone is Dr. Scott Murray. His breach of trust was worse than the painful things in my life that I went to see him about in the first place. I don't think the man has a conscience, much less a heart.

Dr. Murray shattered my trust. He overstepped professional boundaries, violated confidentiality, and abandoned me during a crisis. At first I blamed myself for it all, believing I must have done something wrong as a patient for him to do these things, but I am learning through a new therapist that the things Dr. Murray did to me were wrong, that he did not act in a professional manner, and this is not the way most therapists behave toward patients. I am working to undo the damage caused by my association with him. I wish I had never met him. He has caused more damage and pain to me emotionally than I can ever possibly express.

30 yrs ago I was offered diversion following a dui. Dr. Murray was in charge on the program and after interviewing each person you were assigned to 1 of 5 groups. You did not have a choice as to which group, if you wanted to complete the course then you showed up to the group sessions. When I went to my first session I was surprised that I was the only female. Once the session started with Dr. Murray leading, I quickly figured out that all the guys were sex offenders. Dr. Murray was using me as a guinea pig to see how the men would respond to having a women with a history of sexual abuse present with them. I went home that evening and attempted suicide. My therapist was outraged. She got 20 of her peers to write a letter of complaint. She insisted that I file a lawsuit, but it was 30 yrs ago when that really wasn't that big of deal. I was too tramatized by the entire experience and ended up setting for a pentence, of which most went to the attorney. Murray should have lost his license to practice. I have never forgotten his name.
