About
Kristin Agar, Interventionist, Therapist, Consultant
Kristin Agar, LCSW, CEDS, IAEDP-F, CIP, CAI is a clinical interventionist, psychotherapist, and consultant. Her intervention services include consultation, intervention, continuing care and clinical transport. Kristin is trained in both invitational and rehearsed models, and tailors the intervention to the needs of each family. Rather than focusing solely on the patient, the emphasis is on healing for the whole family. In addition to providing intervention services, Kristin has been a psychotherapist in both in-patient and outpatient settings since 1978. Her treatment services include individual, group and family therapy for people with mental illness, eating disorders, addiction, and illness, grief, and loss.
In recovery herself for 30 years, she also personally understands the struggles with addiction and the challenges of recovery. Kristin is a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS), Certified Intervention Professional (CIP), a Certified LOVE FIRST Clinical Interventionist, and a Certified ARISE Interventionist (CAI). She is a member of the Network of Independent Interventionists (NII), National Association of Social Workers (NASW), Unite for Ethics Now, International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP), and is a founding board member of the Eating Disorder Coalition of Arkansas.
Kristin is often assisted during interventions and therapy sessions by her buddy and canine therapist, Jet, who provides a calm and supportive presence to those with whom she works. Outside of work, Kristin enjoys hanging out with friends and family, cheering on the St. Louis Cardinal baseball team, and rescuing senior dachshunds in need of a final “furever” home.
