He is a part of a cult called the "Self Realization Fellowship" but does not know he is (the hypnosis they use at the cult is very subtle and other monks and nuns have been left severely depressed, suicidal, without help, and trapped in the compound. Scott is a former monk who has written about the sexual and psychological abuse at the SRF and at the sister place called Ananda. the "guru" has been complained about even back then. monks and nuns, people are inimidated from speaking out about the SRF but Sheriffs can be contacted to file investigations - and trafficking that the SRF in many states use people to recruite them into.)
