Not Exercising? No More Excuses

Exercising Together

Wellness Tip: Exercise is touted as one of the most beneficial things you can do for your health. We are bombarded daily with slinky-clad young women on elliptical machines, or buff men pumping iron, and many other forms that frankly tend to intimidate. What if I told you that exercise can be as simple as a morning walk? Simply don your most casual overalls and hit the outdoors. The morning air is usually cleaner, free of the smog that builds up during the day, and breathing fresh air first thing in the morning is enormously invigorating, helping to produce endorphins, the feel-good hormones.

After several hours of lying down, your muscles typically relax and lose tone. Walking improves that tone, especially if done briskly. No, it is not essential to walk briskly - the benefits accrue by breathing fresh air and moving one's body. The body was meant to be moved, the muscles used; but that does not mean that it must hurt and produce charlie horses for benefits to be garnered.

Make a plan to get up even 15 minutes earlier than usual, and begin greeting your mornings with energy and vitality that will last you all day long.
