Recent studies show coffee may actually provide health benefits: protection from Type-2 diabetes, liver disease, cancer, Parkinson's disease, decreased depression--even increased cognitive function. Not a bad benefit from your favorite java! There are caveats. Some people metabolize caffeine too slowly, and two or more cups daily may put them at increased risk for heart disease. (Check with your doctor.) Also, unfiltered espresso can elevate cholesterol levels.
So enjoy your cup o' joe, but do pass on the cream and sugar.
