I wanted to be able to express that while I understand that my issue may not be as serious as issues others are experiencing, it is still something happening to my body and any patient should expect to have their concerns listened to when they seek assistance. I provided a fair bit of information in my check-in questionnaire regarding what I was experiencing and I have no reason to think that it was reviewed prior to the appointment. He came to the appointment with very little useful information regarding my concerns. Any testing that was ordered felt like it was to humor me. He set a follow-up appointment that was eventually cancelled, because it was deemed that he wasn't able to provide further care. It was at my request that he make a referral to another party that may be able to address my concerns. I'm not disappointed in his lack of expertise. I'm disappointed in when he was aware of his lack of knowledge that he took no steps to get me to someone that would have that knowledge. There was no pro-active attempts on his part and this has delayed any treatment/diagnosis by almost two months.
Overall, I left feeling not heard and that I was a waste of an appointment for him. I can say that the appointment with him appears to have been a waste of time for me. It's my belief that if he wasn't able to make a diagnosis, or provide care he should have been quicker to make a referral to someone who potentially could instead of delaying it for a month when lead times on getting appointments with a lot of care providers are so long to start with. While I'm disappointed in this for myself, my main reason for writing this to prevent this behavior for his future patients. If you choose to make an appointment with him be prepared to have to advocate for yourself.
