Dr. Bellomo is extremely nice and seems like a good doctor, but her staff is absolutely horrible. I made an in person visit signed forms to get my hospital records released and was assured that the doctor would receive the records to make an assessment as to see whether surgery was urgent or not within a couple of days. A week and a half later I found out that her office NEVER made a request to the hospital, yet I was encouraged to go for surgery. After spending hours myself determining what happened, I had to follow up with the hospital myself to get them to send the forms. And when I went to speak to the office about the mishap and that there was a breakdown in their process to "follow-up on important items", I was literally told that it was my fault (their words). That I never signed a form for them to fax to the hospital and obtain my records; which I know for a fact I did as I was in their office and had to fill the form TWICE because of typos made by one of the office assistants there in order to make the request.
I recommended that they review their processes and take my feedback, but I kept being told by the staff there that is wasn't "their job nor their problem for the mishaps". I didn't even receive an apology on behalf of the practice. They just wanted to know if I wanted another appointment. That was on two separate phone calls I received the same answer. This means that I made a physical office visit, that my insurance paid for, to have an assessment made without my hospital records ever being reviewed. An astonishing, irresponsible fact and an embarassment for this practice.
As a result, I had no faith in the staff looking out for my needs so I cancelled my follow-up appointment. They called me a few weeks later to see if I would follow-up with Dr. Bellomo, seeming oblivious to the feedback I provided earlier because no one "cared" enough to pass it along. I shared my feedback again on this call and was confront with the same language: "This isn't my problem." "You need to talk to someone else here [although they never offered anyone else to speak to.]" "I just want to know if you want another appointment." "You are babbling and ranting, and I don't need to listen to it."
Awful. Insensitive. Disgraceful. Uncaring robots. I doubt the doctor will ever know what a disservice her staff does to her, as they're the gatekeepers to getting in touch with her.
