I did not have a good experience with Carol at all. It seemed like she had a lot of experience, but when I left, I doubted her level of experience when working with overweight clients. She had me list foods I would eat and wouldn't eat on my first visit. The second visit, she laid out a written nutrition plan for me that included 2 pages of the foods I would not touch with a 10 ft. pole - foods that I had told her at the first visit would actually make me gag and throw up. I started to get teary-eyed in desperation about my horrible eating habits and she proceeded to tell me that she thought I was still in the "contemplative" phase of making changes and she didn't think I really wanted to change. Umm, per the definition of the contemplative stage, I would not have been in her office at that moment. I made the appointment myself because I was ready for change. If I was still contemplating, I would have been sitting at home in my recliner stuffing my face. I just wasn't prepared to get someone who clearly was not in tune to me at all and lacked basic empathy. Carol is a very healthy person - thin and in shape. I applaud her for this - but my experience showed someone who is completely out of touch with the plight of a person who is struggling with food and is overweight. She actually said to me in a happy and giddy voice, and I quote - "I went out to dinner with my family the other night to celebrate and I 'splurged' and had some butter on my bread!" Okay, who says that to the face of an overweight person? When she said that, I felt 200 lbs heavier than I actually am. Lastly, I received my first bill from her - 6 months after the last appointment. I didn't even realize I owed her money. I am not sure why she did not send a bill in a timely manner.
