Having seen several of Finksburg Counseling's therapists over the years I always found the best care I could imagine. I've been in it to win it at every turn, and worked hard to implement what they taught me. The receptionist is kind and helpful, too, which is a characteristic often missing in busy offices.
Wonderfully caring, no-nonsense Dr. Housel was a gem who'll be missed.

I would give them 0 stars but there was no option. Typically, the receptionists did not answer the phone during normal working hours, and on the rare occasion they did they were so rude and unhelpful. What a horrible first impression of a counseling service. When someone is brave enough to reach out for help, one would assume that you would initially receive a warm welcome, not at all. It actually gets way worse. We saw a psychiatric RN, Christine, I believe who stated off in the beginning of the initial session that she is boldly truthful, it was more like complete belittlement of her client's, including shaming and name calling. If I would not have been so vulnerable, I would have reported her to the board of ethics. I was clear that she was using her position for power and sadistically cause her client's further pain. Please avoid this place!

Rudest receptionist ever. If you're going to work at a psychiatric office, don't be rude to patients. I was left in tears not knowing where to turn. Save yourself the anguish, find a doctor with an office that doesn't make you feel worse after visiting.

Not helpful. It took two weeks to get in and first visit was nothing more than the counselor filling out an intake sheet. It took almost another two weeks to make another appointment and by then our issue had gotten completely out of control. I expressed this to the counselor and got no helpful answer.

Pick another place. This is the worst psychiatrist I have ever been to and the office staff is just as rude and rude. If you want real help go to a place that tries to help you in all ways, not just with some medication that doesn't really work, there are several places that will work with you and your family. Find a place that helps with cognitive therapy, new medications, and ways to make you better. They don't listen to you or care what you have to say. You get a 15 minute appointment and are rushed out so if you have any changes you have no time to talk to the doctor.

I had surgery so I had to miss days since I couldn't drive and they have never said one word about it or sent me a bill until I told them I was leaving the practice and then they say I have to pay several no show fees. I called and wheh I had to reschedule so it was never a no show fee but I had no ride and was cut hip to hip so I couldn't drive so they said I was okay because I couldn't help it. My psychologist told me that my family and I would be better off going to a place that deals with our issues versus some generic older psychiatrist that does not know what she's talking about or any new options that could help us.

Since I'm moving north we are leaving the practice and I'm so excited about it because I got anxiety every time I even walked into the office and anxiety was part of my problem. My family didn't like it either and we are all completely happy about leaving. We can't wait to start over with someone new to try to start getting healthier not just with medication but cognitive therapy to teach us to cope with our issues on a daily basis. I have succeeded without this help (except for medication) no thanks to this doctor and we will all do even better when we actually truly get the help we need.

Seriously, unless you have a short-term issue, find a place that specializes in the disability you have. Carroll County is the worst. Go to Baltimore or even Pennsylvania for real help. I have a lot of friends who are doctors or nurses and they tell me this is the worst plave to go.

They paid close attention to me and all of my questions were answered. Their staff is very friendly and professional. I was very satisfied with my visit. They were helpful and I left feeling encouraged. The office was very easy to locate. I didn't have any trouble finding it at all. I have gone back and will again when I need to.
