I saw Freya briefly with my family when I was a teenager. She said, "how do you ever expect to find a husband if you can't even get along with your father?" She placed the entire directionality of blame for our poor relationship on my shoulders, with the added bonus of "you'll never land a man" fear mongering. Guess who also had responsibility for that relationship? My dad. Was that explored? No. I deserved to be treated with more respect and dignity than that.

It did real harm that Freya used her position of authority to wrongly solidify a narrative within my family that I'm "difficult" for no reason because I "can't even get along with [my] father," without exploring his role in the situation. We're seeing a proper family therapist now, who values all of our life experiences. This time I'm actually being heard and it's going very differently. Whatever the therapist equivalent of being "disbarred" is, that should happen to Freya.
