No loyalty! Does not care about handling problems! His way or no way! I was very disappointed with Dr. Cunningham and his staff. I had a situation where my cat was very sick -- having problems breathing -- and I called to make an emergency appointment, explained the situation, and the staff told me my pet could not be seen as they did not have any available times on the day I wanted to be seen. I repeated it was an emergency and was told Saturday's fill up quickly and it would have to wait until Monday. I asked the staff to have Dr. Cunningham call me to discuss this situation at a later date and received no call. Luckily, I was able to get my pet in to see another vet in my area (still had to go to Highland & get a copy of my pets records though); he received medication and improved within 3 days. This was in December. I called in February to make an appt and Dr. Cunningham told me my records were transferred to the place "I requested" and my file was closed upon "my request". This was news to me. After discussing the situation, he told me he was not able to provide the type of service I needed -- meaning, if your pet is really really sick and needs to be seen and no appointment is available at Highland, you are out of luck! You need to go to a larger facility with more doctors. This is unfortunate because the lady doctor who works with Dr. Cunningham is terrific; he is not so much and has an attitude that he doesn't need repeat customers or need to deal with those who raise concerns. I want other people to know that if you have a similar situation what you can expect -- no appointment, no call back, and attitude from Dr. Cunningham himself. I was shocked to hear Dr. Cunningham say he just can't provide this type of service and making me appear as the person with the problem vs. his practice. Really; wow! I do not think I am an unreasonable person in wanting this type of service; I am just glad to know Dr. Cunningham and Highland Animal Hospital is not the place to offer it. I am very happy with the new place -- they even called twice to check on the condition of my cat. I can't see Highland going out of their way to do anything. Prior to this, I was happy with the service provided; good thing I found out the true situation. Good luck!
