We took in our dog for routine vaccinations. Turns out he had some weight loss so we had routine blood work run. After getting the results the vet decided we should get an x-ray which cost a little over $150.00 plus an ultrasound which would run $400.00. She also strongly pushed for a biopsy in which we were told could run an additional $400 up to $1000.00. Although she did expect it wouldn't be a full $1000.

I felt uncomfortable explaining that we were not able to spend that amount of money considering treatment might cost a lot depending on diagnosis. The vet was rather pushy and I left feeling like a bad pet owner.

I then took my dog to another vet clinic right away who viewed Mountain View Vets x-rays. She did NOT believe his problem was due to his liver. The 2nd vet clinic immediately thought it was his in active heart failure. She was correct. Our dog needed to be put down roughly 3 weeks after being seen by Mountain View Vet.

I've since talked to a few pet store owners who told me they also had been in the same situation regarding completely inaccurate diagnoses as well as the pushiness to run expensive tests that were not the root cause of the problem.

PLEASE be careful if you utilize Mountain View Veterinary Hospital.
