I first went there a few years ago and the doctor was kind and listened and did a great job with my pet. Dr. Moore himself called me to tell me the results of her test. Fast forward to the end of last year and she had the same problem again and I had to take her to the emergency vet across the street (because of timing), who sent the info to AMC. AMC called and asked if she was all right and I was very impressed. They even let me come in and ask all sorts of questions of a very kind vet tech, who couldn't have been more understanding. I was VERY grateful.

A few months later, I had problems with both my pets and brought them in. A different vet treated them and she was nice, but very perfunctory. She seemed busy, rushed. Tests were performed, but not the same on each pet because one was very upset and the vet techs said they couldn't restrain her properly. The vet prescribed some antibiotics for both without telling me why. When I asked, she said she thought that one of them had a disease that could be treated with long term (or maybe short term) steroids. She wanted to see them again after their antibiotics were finished to start them on steroids. I was so upset with this news that I forgot all my other questions and left with my pets and their antibiotics.

The next day, I'd calmed down and called to ask some specific questions that I'd been too upset to remember before, such as: why both were prescribed the same thing when only one might have the disease? What was the diagnosis for the other one?

The vet tech who talked to me was very short in her answers and seemed rather defensive; I wasn't questioning the doctor's opinion or anything. I was simply asking 'why' so I would know.

The follow-up calls I received from the vet techs during the antibiotic treatments were along the same lines. When I said one pet seemed a little better but not the other, she said to just keep treating them with the medicine they gave me to help with the symptoms, not the underlying issue.

I knew when the problem refused to clear up that they needed to see the vet again, but I was scared to death to bring them here because they'd be immediately started on steroids without a definite positive that they needed it.

I found a new vet and within 2 visits, the cause of the issue was found and both are now on treatments that are working completely, WITHOUT STEROIDS!

AMC is a nice place. Very clean, with a knowledgeable staff. I think I may have just brought my babies in on a busy day or something, but I don't think I'll be back again because I'm afraid they'll still want to give steroids.

Also, their hours are INCREDIBLY restrictive: they are only open 9-5 on Monday, Tues., Wed., and Fri. with 'by appointment only' hours on Thurs.
