The staff at Linda Valley really care about the residents there. They don't just brush buy patients but stop and make conversation with them. They make patient's guests feel welcome.

But the most telling thing is that other patients praise the care there. This is the second skilled nursing facility my dad has been in, and while the last place looked nicer on the outside, when you talked with the patients they said very negative things about it...and no one there seemed happy. The patients at Linda Valley, in spite of their state of health, overall seem in good spirits. Patients wheel themselves around the halls and chat. It just seems like a good place.

at one visit there i witness after a resident's death she laid in her bed more than 8 hours after expiring staff said they were waiting for the body to be picked up. i expressed my concern to the charge nurse that had been working the opposite side of the facility, she called ombudsman, but they expressed no concern. The charge nurse and I were in anguish, where are these people's dignity?

This facility initially has every pretense of being kind and friendly upon
admission. Upon discharge everything comes to light. From the lack
of care, nourishment , hydration etc. etc. etc. My husband went into this
facility for Respite Care (10) days. When I brought him in, he was
ambulatory. When I picked him up, he was not. He was non-responsive.
I was in such anguish and complete shock when I saw his condition upon discharge. When I got him home, I had to call 911, he ended up in the hospital the same day of discharge, dehydrated, weight loss, urinary
infection and subsequently passed away within a week of discharge.
It is too late for me, I only hope those who read this take heed so the
same thing does not happen to your loved one.

This facility, Linda Valley Care Center located in Loma Linda CA, is well known for passing inspections, but that is the only time that it operates properly. This facility has been known to let patients go without food and water. They have demonstrated on multiple occasions their complete disregard for patient's rights, as well as family member's concerns. The on site staff at times have been known to make patients wait for up to 30 minutes before responding after being 'called'. They have used oxygen machines as 'restraints' (meaning patient is tethered to the machine via oxygen tube, unable to move about facility, even though portable oxygen tanks are available they have claimed to not have any). This would be the last place one should consider.
