Very Nasty place my fathers dinner tray had a roach on it .The staff acts as if they're there only for a check and there focused only on themselves I don't recommend this place for a dog.

I submitted a review back in April when my grandmother started hospice care because she was losing weight rapidly and just not thriving. I was very concerned at first because I felt like I should have known before she was at 86lbs. I was given the alternative to have a feeding tube placed in her which I declined to do. I worked closely with the hospice team and the staff and now I am happy to report my grandmother is gaining weight and thriving again. No longer under hospice care. My point for this review is to let others know that nursing home care is never going to be perfect. It is possible if you have the money to basically put your loved one in a country club type facility but even then they are under staffed in all positions which is a big part of the quality of care given. The key is to form a relationship with staff and be concerned. I am in another state and the hospice care team kept me informed by personal calls and conference call meetings. They really cared and were diligent in helping my grandmother. She will be 91 next month and I give kudos to this facility for caring for her since 2010 and giving her a better quality of life. They are not perfect and I don't expect them to be. My expectations were not unrealistic so I have not been disappointed. I urge anyone needing to use nursing homes to research and take all reviews read with a grain of salt. Everyone's experience will be different. I will always recommend Bala. It is hard having to make the decision of making someone you love a nursing home their home for the remainder of their life but sometimes it is the only solution. If you let the staff know how you feel about your loved one they will do their best and usually go an extra mile for you. My Grandmother has been a resident since 2010 and I have been so pleased with the care she has gotten. Because of circumstances and family issues I needed a Home that I could feel comfortable to leave her in because I was moving out of state. They listened to my story and were very empathetic. They have kept me updated on her progress. They have scheduled phone conference call meetings since I live out of state. My Grandmother is now in hospice care because of going through the last stages of alzheimer's. Because they took action and wanted the best care for her she is now getting extra attention and is actually doing better. When I visit the staff recognizes me and even ask how my life is going. This means that they remember our conversations and are really listening. THANK YOU Bala Nursing Home for taking care of my loved one. Thank you to the 2west staff and social workers and hospice team! I can not express enough how grateful I am my Grandmother has you and that I have you to trust. They try their best to keep everything clean. They just did some deep cleaning and painting and added some nice pictures on the walls. My Grandmother's room is always neat and clean as well as the bathroom. She has not had any bed sores. She gets her hair washed and nails done. When I visit she is always smiling and in good spirits. The neighborhood is good. I used to live on Balwynne Park Road a street over. I would definitely recommend Bala!

Sadly, the comments that were written are true. It is pathetic to see how people are treated at this facility. I guess the residents are valued for their money, as long as it lasts. Very much a case of profits over people. The staff seems angry, confused and possibly overworked. So much room for improvement. Have you ever had to wait an hour to be helped to the bathroom ? This happened at Bala. Ever missed meds that you asked about getting ? Happened at Bala. There are some pleasant moments and some good staffers but the weaknesse outweigh the strengths. Rude, rough and wrong. Bala, you can do better. Please do.
