They don't have that great of a professional reputation in my community. They definitely aren't known for being experts. Their office was kind of gross. I was scared I was going to catch something from being in the office. I was pretty surprised with how far away this business was from everything. It took me forever to get there and I kept getting lost. The staff made it completely obvious that they didn't respect THE PATIENTS. It made me uncomfortable and I wasn't sure if I wanted to return. They're always able to answer simple questions over the phone. They only make me schedule appointments if necessary. Although the Social Worker was competent and helpful, the nursing staff was terrible! There were patients who were left sitting in the hall in their wheelchairs, with a stream of urine running down the hall. The staff was also making fun of and visibly MENTALLY abusive to the patients.

I had a close family member admitted into this facility who was there short term within the last 6 months. At the time, the surrounding rehab facilities were at maximum capacity and this was pretty much my only choice unless I wanted to travel a far distance. I have to admit this facility has a very bad reputation locally so I was very skeptical. I took the time to visit and take a tour before moms transfer to familiarize myself with the facility. At first glance, it is your average nursing home. The property is large and lovely. The landscaping was nothing spectacular but well kempt. They did have some holiday decorations outside. I was greeted by very nice receptionists after being buzzed in through the security system. There was a faint odor of urine in the lobby. The floors were shining as if they were recently waxed. The décor and furnishings were outdated but looked to be in good condition. I was handed off to a nursing supervisor who seemed knowledgeable and was very polite. We proceeded through the 4 wings of the facility. It happened to be lunch time so all of the patients were eating or being fed so the atmosphere appeared calm. I should have toured at a different time, maybe later in the afternoon, or earlier in the morning, because it is very different at those times. On the surface everything appeared fairly clean and nothing really stuck out as worrisome so I made the decision to have mom transferred there. After all, it was only to be short term and I would be there everyday to monitor her care and progress. BIG MISTAKE. BIG. After settling in and getting into a routine my perspective started to quickly change. The entire place needed updating. The wallpaper in my mothers room was ripped in several places and filthy. Most of the beds are old-fashioned "crank" beds making it very difficult for the staff and patients to quickly raise or lower them. The food is bland and nothing mom ever wanted to eat. It seemed they were served the same thing over and over again with no variety or any interesting choices. The social service department was lacking staff with just 2 part-time women who were NEVER available after 3 or 4pm. Administration seemed patronizing and arrogant. The rehab room seemed more like a converted storage room with older equipment. However, the staff there was knowledgeable, helpful, and very good at what they do. It seemed they did their best with the subpar hand they were dealt. To be fair, my mother left there meeting and in some cases, exceeding, her rehab goals. The facility is called a subaute and rehab center but be warned, MOST of their patients are long term nursing home residents. MANY have obvious psychiatric issues. They do not separate these residents. They all co-mingle. For example, you may have a 50 year old knee replacement on the same floor as someone with behavioral problems or dementia. At times, these patients are disruptive and distracting. Although I understand those types of patients deserve the same care as anyone else, it often made mom very uncomfortable and as if she "didn't belong in a place like this." Overall, the nursing staff was friendly and accommodating but obviously short handed. I understand the state staff-to-patient ratio is met but it seemed they needed more help for the patient load they have. This could be said of the housekeeping department as well. Like I said earlier, the cleanliness left much to be desired but I think it's more of a staffing issue than a lack of interest in one's job. I noticed the porters and such were always busy but there never seemed to be enough time in the day. After speaking to and getting to know several staff members I learned these poor folks haven't had a raise in over 6 years. The low morale is palpable in this facility and In my opinion, administration and the owner are to bIamed for this. I was there on the day of their "staff Christmas Party" and it what shameful what they were served. A less then appetizing buffet prepared at the facility with a dessert table donated by the department heads and a less-than-entertaining DJ. Who wants to get up and let loose in a filthy uniform? Give these hard working people the raise they deserve Carla Kipiani!! Or at the very least, show them some appreciation and foot the bill for a nice Christmas party where they can kick off their shoes, have a few drinks and not have to worry about a call light going off!!! According to my moms insurance statements, this woman is making a ton of money and seemingly putting it all in her pocket. She should reinvest more of it into her business and the employees that have made her rich. In a nut shell, I was pleased with the care my mother received but I believe it would have been different if I hadn't been there everyday to keep on top of things. And if God forbid, mom needs long-term care in the future, I will NOT be putting her here.

Do not EVER put your loved one in this facility! I used to work as a nurse there. The nursing assistants ( with the exception of a few) are rude, disrespectful, and more concerned about getting their assigned patients "done", so that they can go smoke or text.God forbid I needed a quick hand lifting or doing a treatment on a resident,I couldn't find a NA to save my life. Many of the nurses that have worked there a while are no better. Many (except a couple) are lazy, skip treatments and sign for them, and are very unwelcoming to newly hired nurses for fear of being"outed" for their incompetence.Tons of verbal abuse going on.Id never talk to my children that way,yet alone one of my elders whom I'm to show respect to. PLEASE..look elsewhere!

I worked at building II and it is a pit of epic proportions. There is an insane amount of client abuse both verbally, physically and one documented case of sexual abuse by a staff member as well. Do NOT bring your loved one to this awful place.
