Visitors 15 and over only ? Come on there’s no reason for this , what better healing for loved ones to be able to see their loved ones . I will make sure my family arranges it’s needs at different hospitals that have allowed visits in the past unlike Jewish .
My son is a regular patient at Jewish due to breathing problems. Long story short, he had a heart cath scheduled for 12:30, so he was told he would get a light breakfast. He did NOT get breakfast. Being a diabetic, one needs to eat a little. They finally came after him for the procedure at 2:30, still not as much as a cracker in his stomach. When he was brought back to his room, he was told he would have to wait for the dr. orders to get something to eat as they had changed his diet, but they would bring his some ice cream. He called me last night at 7:30 and had JUST gotten a supper and a very small one at that...I have a feeling he will be changing hospitals..
My husband had 3 different procedures this past summer. The first he was [laced in ICU for 4 days. While there I witnessed the house keeping come in to clean the bathroom. They used the same rag to clean the inside rim of the toilet to clean the toilet handles, the sick, counter and the faucet handles. I pointed it out to a nurse and all she said she would take care of it. When my husband received his release papers I noticed when I got home that one of his daily medications he was given a triple dose while in the hospital. He went in for a second procedure about 6 weeks later and he was over dosed again . Our GP was notified and she checked to make sure all meds. were sent over correctly. The third procedure I told them a few days early when they called to go over all his meds. and they finally got it changed. All we got was I'm sorry! UNACCEPTABLE! If it wasn't for the doctors I would never recommend this hospital.
Billing department absolutely SUCKS! Talked my husband into paying $464.00 for a procedure claiming to be offering a discount if paid immediately. EOB shows that we should have only been billed for $151.00. Could have sent it thru our flex account but pressured into paying for it another way. Ridiculous! Now won't process a refund so that we can keep the accounts straight, want to apply it to other Mercy accounts.
Hospital & nurses are wonderful. Food services not so much. Been here 5 times (inpatient) in the last 3 years and next time I anticipate an inpatient stay, I will be bringing my own food or have it brought in from nearby restaurants. The food is awful, the menu hasn't changed since I've been going there and I can only recommend the Chicken Taco & Chicken Enchilada. Nurses are amazingly wonderful and attentive, they make it personal for you and do their best to see that you're comfortable and attended to. Med students are pretty good. They do the best they can under lack of sleep & whatever other stress they're under. Not impressed with my Dr. (who shall be unnamed) - had 3 hernia repair issues over the past 3 years and all my friends & family suggest I seek the services of a good lawyer. I give Jewish a 3.5 overall.
