In 2003, I was admitted to Methodist Specialty when I was 13 for attempting suicide. This drug dealer of a "doctor" was a slob, with crumbs on his tie and blank expression, could never tell if he's actually listening to me. He prescribed me all at the same time Wellburtin, Serax, Navane, Risperdol, and Ambien. I was 13!!! I told him that the meds would make me have fits and I would be uncontrollably crying one minute and a zombie the next, but he never listened. And I now read other reviews that he has been inappropriate with younger patients? I'm glad I wasn't one of them.

I am ashamed that this man is still able to practice, his ass needs to be stripped of his license and never allowed to be able to prescribe drugs again. Burn in Hell, Dr. Potterf. You ruined my adolescent years.

I wish I never laid eyes on this doctor. I had to be hospitalized in March of 2011, and he was the physician assigned to me. He refused to look at my medical records, or talk to my outside psychiatrist or my husband--both of them knew my history. I spent five days in, and I had a violent reaction to one of the medications he prescribed for me. I spent all five days telling him and the staff that my behavior was not normal for me, and that it felt like a medication. I was sent home, Dr. Potter's orders, without a prescription, already unstable and in the throws of a severe reaction. I went through the withdrawals at home because I no longer trusted the medical professionals. Dr. Potter broke my trust and my soul. I have since regained my soul, but I will never be the same. I have heard similar experiences from other patients. Dr. Potter should have his license pulled. I wish there was a way for patients to make sure he doesn't hurt anyone else.

Before making an appointment with this physician, please be aware that Dr. Potterf has a history of boundary violations with his patients. On 12-12-03, the Texas Medical Board restricted Dr. Potterf’s physician's license for a period of five years, including the requirement of a chaperone to be present with all minor patients. This action was due to a boundary violation with a patient.

On June 27, 2008, the Board and Dr. Potterf entered into an Agreed Order publicly reprimanding Dr. Potterf and requiring him to pay an administrative penalty of $1,000. The order was based on Dr. Potterf’s failure to comply in part with the requirement of his 2003 order that he have a licensed healthcare professional as a chaperone while examining adult patients. Dr. Potterf had complied with the requirement at his office, but had failed to comply with this requirement while seeing patients at two hospitals.

Most of his staff is kind and thay will work with you. My only issue has been that since he works such long hours, he has actually dozed off while talking to him. My mother is not so bothered by it but I feel like screaming and throwing a pillow at him. But like I said he is sometimes the only Dr who will admit the indegent and homeless. I believe he really cares.
