I thought she spoke very slow on the stand of the case with the little boy who died. Her credentials are good.

I met Dr.Deacon at Jersey Shore University Medical Center after giving birth to my daughter. She was going to be away for a conference and we were kind of sad that our baby wouldn't be having her first visit with Dr. Deacon. While the dr was away our daughter began seeing another dr for her few few visits. This dr was great on the first two visits, shortly after, his true colors began to shine through and we found him a bit too rough for our baby. Now we are with Dr. Deacon and I love taking my daughter to her. The dr is so kind, knowledgeable and tender with my baby and myself as well.

My problem was not with Dr Deacon herself, but with the awful front desk staff. The receptionist is rude, argumentative, uncooperative, and down-right unprofessional. She acts like it is a hassle to make appointments, when quite frankly, that IS her job. If I had a question for the Dr. regarding the health of my children, I was made to feel like I was a bother. She refused to fax any forms or even call in prescriptions at times. Instead, this receptionist insisted that we pick them up at the front desk which is a huge problem when you have sick children. It got to the point that I dreaded calling the office for any reason, because I knew I had to gear up for a confrontation. This woman should be fired! We reluctantly switched doctors due to this issue. It is a shame because we loved Dr. Deacon and all of the nurses too! I just grew weary of having to deal with this individual's nonsense every time I had to call the office, which with multiple school-age children, is quite often.

The pediatrician is fine. She is great with the kid, though a little dry with the parents. I felt that she was not always the most sympathetic with mothers, and sometimes a bit judgemental, but overall not that bad. It is her front desk that ruins everything. They are argumentative, and often misinformed. They make up things as they go along. Granted, I was argumentative on the phone due to my frustration with the feeling I was getting treatment that was different from before because of my loss of insurance. I did not appreciate that I was punished for that. I called back accidentally instead of who I wanted to be the new pediatrician, and found that if I went in uninsured, instead of being a patient before who lost insurance, they were more understanding and more willing to work with me financially. I don't understand why the change in prices was so significant. I also don't undersand why they felt they could treat me differently when I lost my insurance. The front desk should all be fired and new front staff in. There used to be a gentleman at the front desk that was much more understanding than the current staff. I believe that when the women who currently work there took over, the facility lost a lot of appeal.
