Doctor Heist is a ROCK STAR in cowboy boots!
He wants the understanding to be mutual so he explains and he listens. He does not rush, so sometimes you have to wait, I don't care about that. (If u do care & don't want that personal thing - the office recently put a new program into place where, on certain days, at certain times, you can be in & out in 15 minutes.)
For me and others (friends, family) Dr Heist has diagnosed a few issues that were not found by other physicians.
He's got a quirky sense of humor. He's really smart and up-to-date. He's compassionate and he lets you know what's up firmly but without judgment. He's MY doctor & I think he's great!
BUT - his Practice is HURT by lots of crazy rules & times & schedules!!!
Although some of the staff is friendly, some are definitely NOT.
We working people often can ONLY call at lunchtime or after work - but there's a ridiculous phone schedule (I don't know of ANY other office, in ANY business, that completely shuts down at noon for over an hour, EVERYDAY). The weekday schedule is very confusing and even when the office should be open for calls - don't be surprised to hear the non-scheduling answering service, anyway. I was once told "If nothing is going on, we shut down early". I say - Nothing is going on BECAUSE you shut down early.
When I am trying to call on their schedule & they cheat the schedule, it makes it really hard, sometimes, to get an appointment - but if you are sick, once you get through to the office, you can be seen rather quickly.
ALSO - The pharmacy is NOT PERMITTED to call the office for refills or anything else. So you must call the office (ugh-oh, that CRAZY battle) or go in just to have a simple maintenance refill... WHO does not let the pharmacy call?
I feel like the staff does NOT give their ALL to the Doctor who gives his ALL to his patients! They really seem to HATE the phone!!!!
I would guess the good Doctor has had some of these workers a very long time & trusts them to run the office in a way that reflects his laid back style. I also have to guess he is unaware of it's unwelcoming atmosphere.

The staff was warm and welcoming, which I appreciated. They are very friendly there. They are kind and caring, and they stay open way past their closing time to help anyone who needs them. They wouldn't deny anyone that needed help. I know I can always count on them. I felt that they really valued my health and happiness because they followed up even after my appointment just to check up on me. It was such a nice gesture that made a huge difference. They went out of their way to make me feel special and respected, and were very sympathetic to my situation.

Dr. Heist is an OK Doctor, but if you want to be seen on-time; forget it. I have gone as far as waiting until I got the first appointment of the day, figuring that "no way" could they be late for that. Wrong! The staff was 15 minutes late to open, and it was at least another 45 minutes before I was seen. How can you be an hour late for your first appointment??? It is a shame, because he seems to be a caring Doctor.

It was so nice to arrive and see many fully qualified staff members. I've gone to some places that were very understaffed and I've never had a good experience. This place had a great staff though, and I'll definitely be going back. I've never seen anyone who is more respected by their staff. The entire staff only had great things to say about working there, and it made me want to return all the more. The staff was very helpful no matter how many times I called with a question or concern. They never made me feel uncomfortable for asking any question. Dr. Heist is extremely caring and spends time listening and explaining. He also has a wonderful associate who I often see.

It was nice to hear how much the staff respected them. It made me that much more confident that I was under the care of a professional. I have never seen a coupon for this provider, nor do they ever have specials or promotions going on. I don't think they like to help people save money. They made sure every single question I had was answered, and are always available if I think of any more questions I want answered.

I have had issues with punctuality at this office but not until recently had I had enough. My daughter was recently hospitalized and was referred to her primary care physician. She had an appointment for 12:30 and finally had had enough at 2:30. Some of the front office staff is inattentive and she then requested a refund of the co-pay. It's terrible that they often run late seeing their patients and cannot communicate to patients waiting to be seen or scheduled for an appointment. I'm assuming that too many appointments are scheduled which causes this problem. If that is the case, the staff should be considerate enough in proactively communicating these delays to patients which are waiting and/or those with later appointments. I strongly recommend against becoming a patient of this office. I will be sure to communicate this on as many sites as possible to prevent others from suffering this treatment.
