I would not recommend this place to anyone. I had 2 horrible experiences there with my daughter and do not intend to go back with any of my children. The 1st visit we had to wait over an hour past the appt time to get taken back. When I voiced a complaint regarding this, the office manager give me a huge attitude. I then spoke to her boss and the issue was quickly resolved, we were provided a gift card and with a note for the head manager and I was pleased with them or so I thought.
A week later, my daughter returned to have a procedure done. The dentist was highly recommended and "great with kids." While that may have been the case, she was not great with the parents of the kids. I was told that I could stay in the room with my daughter (who had never had anything like this done before) as long as I sat in the corner and "kept my mouth shut." I happen to work with sick children and their parents and know that you do not talk to parents that way. I explained this to her and she said if I was uncomfortable, I was more than welcome to leave. I, against my better judgment let her continue because the only thing that mattered to me was that daughter be taken care. After the procedure was completed, it was suggested that she needed more work than they were comfortable doing there and upon checking out we would receive referrals for pediatric specialists. When I was given the sheet there were 4 dentists-3 of them are way out of our area and the 4th one is close but they only take patients to 5 years old. My daughter is 6. When I said this I was told, "Well, I guess you could just pull out the phone book and look yourself." I told them that we were leaving and not coming back. Thankfully my daughter was with me or it could have escalated much further. I have never been so angry, upset or disgusted with an healthcare facility before. It has been over a day since this experience and I am still just so disgusted. I can not believe we were treated this way and now to make matters worse, we have to start the process over again with finding a new dentist and put my daughter through all the steps again. Which in the end having her taken care of best is what is important. And the best is not Portage Dental Center and Dr. Sylvia Kramer.

They always return my phone calls quickly. I always know that I'll get a prompt answer to my question. They were one of the kindest, most caring staff I've ever dealt with. It didn't matter how many times I called with a question or concern, they were always happy to help me. As soon as I walked through the door, I was immediately greeted by the friendly staff. They went out of their way to make me feel special and appreciated. The office was very easy to locate. I didn't have any trouble finding it at all.

OK, enough of the canned questions and answers. Just by accident I wandered into this dental clinic without an appointment when I had a tooth that needed pulling. About the same time a serious condition that I had since childhood started to flare up again. I had received nightmarish surgical opinions that made me very uneasy, and so I had the dentist at Portage Dental take a look. He was knowledgeable, capable not the least bit interested in making me his full employment act with procedures I didn't need. He came up with a plan that was much simpler, more elegant and much more affordable. And now a couple months later I have a terrific new smile. If you have a choice at all, go see Dr. John Brooke at Portage Dental Center.
