I got an appointment quickly. I wasn't greeted at all when I walked in the door. No one seemed to notice or care that I was there. Not only did I not receive any sample toothbrushes or toothpaste to take home, they rushed me out the door. It seemed like they couldn't wait for me to leave. They didn't tell me anything about my treatment options. I left feeling unhappy and ripped-off. This office is one of the many during confounding and frustrating years I spent trying, unsuccessfully to find a Reno dentist and staff who are professional, clean, up-to-date, courteous, kind, posted my payments, treated me with honor, were accommodating to my disabilities, and were respectful of my time by being on time. As a retired professor with a doctorate, I was dismayed to find this dental office and dentist treating me like I was a first-grader to be ordered about and shaken so all my lunch money fell out for them.
Their staff was friendly enough, but they didn't go out of their way to help me. I appreciated that they were still concerned about my health even after I left the office. They followed up with me after my appointment and everything. Whenever I make an appointment, I'm always confident that they're going to be ready for me at my scheduled time. At other places I've been to, it's always bothered me when they postpone my appointment, but they've never done that here.
Very nice office and pleasant staff. I went on a family referral. I called first to make sure they took my insurance and they said they did but it may not cover the entire cost of my cleaning. From past experiences I figured it would cost between $20- $50 out of pocket. After a regular cleaning and brief exam with the dentist, where I was told I have a perfect set of healthy teeth, my bill was...this is no joke...$500.00. I was floored. They said my insurance would cover $192.00 and the rest was my responsibility. Nothing out of the ordinary was done. This bill was for x rays, cleaning and exam. The exam alone was $148.00 for a 5 minute chat with Nick Furchner where he showed me some photos of teeth and then told me good job on maintaining mine. These prices are not reasonable or comparable to any dentist I have ever been to. The real kicker was his suggestions on what to do with my "perfect smile" an additional $1600.00 worth of bogus procedures. Long story short: keep on looking if you were considering seeing Dr. Furchner.
