Aboulafia told me I had cancer, and I didn't!!!!!! Had tumors in my knee, a disease called PVNS, which is NOT malignant cancer.
Beside manner?? He walked into the examination room, almost smiling, and very loudly said to me, "Well, Mr. ******, you have cancer!" No hello. No how are you. Just "You have cancer!" He then urged me to let him do surgery right away (within days) or I "didn't have much time" to live. Told me he would amputate my leg at the thigh to prevent the cancer from spreading to my lungs! Told me the last guy he saw who had this cancer "went down fast." This was back in 2012, it is now 2015. Needless to say, this scared me to death!
When I hesitated about saying yes to the surgery, he said, "Don't get mad at me! It's not my fault!" I wasn't mad. So glad my wife was there or I don't know that I would have believed my own ears.

I decided to get a second opinion. While I was waiting for the appointment (scared out of my wits), I got MRI's and CAT scans of my whole body, since Aboulafia told me the cancer might have spread already.
Drove all the way to New Jersey to see a surgeon who was an expert in PVNS. He went over all my medical papers and body "photos," while my wife and I were there. He said I had PVNS and in all his 30 years of dealing with PVNS, he had never encountered a case that was malignant. He said it wasn't even bad enough to do surgery to remove the tumors, unless it was causing me debilitating pain, which it wasn't. It was a relief,
however, when you hear an oncologist with Aboulafia's credentials tell you that you have cancer and you are going to die soon if you don't have surgery, well . . . it kind of sticks to you. It took me two years before I felt comfortable enough to breathe and believe that I really didn't have cancer. All that time, I kept thinking, "What if he was right?"
But worst of all, the experience changed my spiritual beliefs, forever. May sound far-fetched to some, but I will never be the same, and I still have anxiety attacks and nightmares about the experience and about having cancer.
I only wish I could give his rating a negative amount of stars!

Best doctor i have ever seen. I have seen many. Definitely takes time with his patients and NEVER rushes. Makes you feel special, and definitely wants to help. Excellent, very smart.

They always take that extra step to make me feel special. I always enjoy my appointments here. One thing I love about them, is that they're always willing to ask for other qualified professionals' advice when they don't have an answer for my question. I never have to worry about them giving me a wrong answer just because they weren't willing to ask for help. The office was very easy to locate. I didn't have any trouble finding it at all. Not only were they able to provide everything they promised me, they went above and beyond and exceeded my expectations.
