I saw Dr. Donald McCarren with my 71 year old mom this past week to have her evaluated for an on-going hand tremor. This physician visit was like none other that either one of us had ever experienced before in our cumulative 60 years of nursing experience! Dr. McCarren was absolutely FANTASTIC to work with!! Such warm, friendly, jovial bedside manner that put my mom's worried mind at ease. He treated us as intelligent medical colleagues which made us both feel respected and heard. He spent an hour and a half with us obtaining a full history and exam...his high intelligence and wit shining through the entire time. My mom walked into his office visibly nervous about the possible diagnosis that lie before her and then after spending time with him, walked out of the office with a much lighter step, her worries alleviated (even though she still had to undergo testing). His office staff was extremely available to our needs and immediately got my mom the authorization from insurance that she needed for testing. I would HIGHLY recommend this office and Dr. McCarren to anyone with any neurological needs...TOP NOTCH PHYSICIAN!!!

Dr. Donald McCarren is an exceptional physician! He is incredibly knowledgeable, extremely caring, accessible, intuitive, insightful and provides care in a kind, thought provoking and educational way that goes beyond any prior healthcare experience I've had to date! (As a 50+ year old, that's pretty many doctors!) He builds understanding of very complicated and complex medical issues by simplifying the diagnosis so that anyone can understand what is required for healing and wellness. He is an impressive, professional caregiver, setting a new standard that hopefully others might one day achieve! Superb!

Pros: Punctual, Patient, Friendly, Experienced

As a patient of Dr. McCarren’s for three years, I continue to have positive experiences with Dr. McCarren, as well as his staff. Dr. McCarren is invested in providing the best care and experience for the patient. Throughout my experience as his patient, I have appreciated Dr. McCarren’s initiatives, including, (1) To build positive relationships with his patients; (2) To work with patients to provide the best medical recommendations; and (3) To be a resource for patients as a medical professional, mentor, etc. I highly recommend Dr. McCarren and his office!

Over the past 7 years, I have been to several neurologists, but none compare to Dr. Donald McCarren. He is knowledgeable, professional, and warmly "HUMAN." Dr. McCarren understands that the importance of establishing and maintaining a doctor/patient team in the care of a patient. While I am NOT a doctor, I AM listened to, heard, communicated with, and recognized as the intelligent person who lives in the body that Dr. McCarren will treat.

My communications with Joanne in the office are always pleasant and helpful as well. Visiting Dr. McCarren and his staff is like getting together with friends! I have recommended this office and will continue to do so!

Dr. McCarren is top notch. He is personable, very knowledgable and down to earth. He established rapport with me immediately as he really listened to what I was saying, not hiding behind a computer or a tablet. I felt very confident with his medical knowledge, even outside of his area of expertise. He was thorough, addressed all my questions, and even initiated a call to my endocrinologist to discuss some complicating factor to help my diagnosis. The last this I have to say is I feel he is very practical and I like that a lot. Highly recommend.

Have been looking for a new Neurologist for a while, but most are too busy to even look at the patient /me. Not Dr. McCarren! The staff listened to my complaints from the very first phone call and got me in over a month earlier from a cancel list. The first visit lasted about an hour, no rush, and phone call to discuss test results and start medication. I found my new doctor!

Today I interviewed Dr. McCarren at his practice because I am in need of a new neurologist. I can honestly say that this has been one of my most positive experiences in the field of medicine...especially neurology. My experience with neurologists is that are generally lacking in communication and bedside manner. Dr. McCarren is at the top of the list in his communication skills! He gave me so much time during my visit and answered every one of my questions. In addition, his thorough examination was unlike any I have experienced with any other neurologist. My diagnosis was explained to me today in a manner I have not heard in the 5 year since I have been dealing with it! Dr. McCarren shared critical information and informed me of goals in a manner that was totally new to me!! Thank you, Dr. McCarren. I am pleases to have you as my new Neurologist!
