My mom went in for a simple cataract surgery and this Dr Hopen acted recklessly by ignoring information that endangered my mother's life by giving IODINE which he knew she was allergic too, but he still applied it to her eye. She went into CARDIAC ARREST ended up in ICU. Three weeks later she passed away. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!

I started seeing his father as a patientwhen I was 12 and his father was great. I was still going to the office up until last year . I stopped going because the girls in his front office didn't know what they were doing. I paid my co payment of $55 then I get a call a month later saying that my insurance covered a certain amount and I had to pay the difference. Ok so I went back in and paid the amount in full. Then 3 months later they claim that I owe them more money and somehow it was the same amount I had paid the 2nd time. I called my insurance company and they told me I didn't owe anything and they saw both payments. For months I get harassing phone calls. I told them to get their account straight or I won't go back and get my laser surgery there. Then around November I get a letter dated August from Dr Hopen saying that because I had an unpaid balance that he is going to stop seeing me and I should find another doctor. This is what he wrote to a patient that had been going to his office for over 28 years over less than $50 after I had said I wasn't going back until his incompetent staff got their accounting correct. Jessica I hope this never happens to you. His father would have handled it differently.

They paid attention to me and my questions were answered. Their staff was friendly enough, but they didn't go out of their way to help me. I was satisfied with my visit. The office was easy enough to find. I'll definitely be going back. I didn't have a bad experience. The office needs to be drastically updated, its decor is really old, even the front door is feeling the weight of the times. The still have old panels on the rooms!

Dr. Hopen wass very thorough in examining and explaining my condition and my options. He's was gentle and patient and his staff reflected his manner. I was very happy that he had been recommended to me by my dermatologist.
