1 1/2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
8 ounces paneer cheese, cubed
1 medium onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground coriander
1 1/2 teaspoons garam masala
1 teaspoon ground turmeric
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1 can diced tomatoes
1 cup frozen peas
2 tablespoons cilantro, chopped
Sauté the cheese cubes in a little oil until light brown. Transfer to a plate.
Add more oil in the same pan and cook the onions until golden. Add the garlic and spices and cook for one minute more.
Add the tomatoes and about 1/2 cup of water and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
Add the fried cheese cubes and peas and cook on a low heat for 20 minutes.
Garnish with cilantro and serve with rice or bread.
