Health Tip: Curbing Nighttime Nursing

(HealthDay News) -- Older babies may be able to sleep through the night, but may still wake up to nurse.

The University of Michigan Health System suggests how to curb baby's nighttime nursing:

  • Offer more frequent feedings throughout the day.
  • Encourage baby to fall asleep without being nursed, such as by being rocked by your partner or carried in a baby sling.
  • When baby cries, wait before you go in and nurse. Increase this wait time gradually.
