Dr Kara Bischoff is a palliative care physician who treats patients with a range of serious illnesses, including neurologic diseases, heart failure, chronic lung diseases and cancer. She sees patients in the clinic as well as the hospital. She serves as medical director of UCSF's palliative care program. Bischoff earned her medical degree at Harvard Medical School. She completed a residency in internal medicine at UCSF, where she also served as chief resident. She then completed a fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine at UCSF. Bischoff is a member of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. She is a mother, a Bay Area native and an outdoor enthusiast.
