A.J. Conrad Smith, MD, is the director of the cardiac catheterization laboratories at UPMC Presbyterian and medical director of the Center for Heart Valve Disease. He received his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco and completed his internal medicine residency, cardiology fellowship, and interventional cardiology fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr Smith has actively sought to battle health disparities through his active involvement in the Association of Black Cardiologists and through grassroots work in underserved communities around Pittsburgh.
