As a child, I always enjoyed fixing things. I wanted to learn a universal skill that I could take anywhere in service to others. Orthopedic surgery, specifically hand surgery, seemed like an especially useful skill. My patients appreciate my compassion, my technical and interpersonal skills, and my years of experience. I take significant personal pride in the health outcomes of my patients and always strive to provide superior care. I won the St. Louis University Humanistic Healer Award in 2020 for exceptional, humanistic patient-centered care. My research has ranged from developing a new technique for fixing finger fractures (I still enjoy fixing things!) to identifying recurrent carpal tunnel syndrome via MRI to creating how-to training videos to guide future surgeons. I've also led research that involved stimulating certain cells to produce stronger hearts after heart attacks. I come from a large, close-knit family. My wife and I have two sons. I enjoy most all activities on the water, including boating, spear fishing, sailing and more. In addition to fixing things, I also love building things. Over the course of two-and-a-half years, I built a 14-foot boat out of wood and fiberglass. Travel is another of my favorite things. I've visited 44 countries and love to experience new cultures.
