Both my parents are physicians. My mom is a pediatrician, and my father is a vascular surgeon. They actually tried to convince me not to study medicine, as they are all too aware of the pressures that go along with the field. But I couldn't find anything else that brought me the satisfaction I get from helping patients live their healthiest lives. I chose internal medicine due to its focus on multiple systems in the body rather than one organ specifically. Being a primary care physician allows me to facilitate my patients' journeys through the complex healthcare system, which can be daunting. I appreciate the opportunity to demystify it, as best as I can, for patients. The most important trait a doctor can have is something not taught in medical school. It's to be a good and careful listener. I start by asking questions, listening intently and involving patients in decisions about their care. My goal is to form a partnership with each patient and to be their guide in improving their health through treatments and prevention strategies. I have an interest in the LGBTQ+ community, and I provide care tailored to that community's needs. At Mercy Hospital St. Louis - where I did my training - I was honored to serve as chief resident. In my spare time, you might find me hiking with my husky, cooking and spending time with family.
