I was drawn to nursing because of the incredible opportunity to impact lives by providing holistic, patient-centered care. For me, success goes beyond simply treating a disease - it's about improving a patient's overall well-being. I am inspired by the wise words of Hunter "Patch" Adams: "You treat a disease, you win, you lose. You treat a person, I guarantee you, you'll win, no matter what the outcome." Whether it is witnessing a decrease in symptoms or small steps toward healing, every bit of progress brings me a deep sense of fulfillment and purpose. These are the rewarding moments that drive me in my work. This mindset keeps me grounded and ensures I provide care with the same empathy I would want for my own family members during a vulnerable time. I make it a priority to truly understand each patient’s needs, values and goals so I can tailor my care accordingly. Building trust through open communication and involving patients and their families in care decisions is vital. At the heart of how I practice is a commitment to making every person I care for feel valued and supported.
