Growing up in a very rural area of New York state with many blue-collar workers and farmers, including his grandfather, Dr Moustakas observed the daily, physical suffering many of them endured with little time off to rest. As a student athlete, he also had many sports injuries of his lower extremities. These experiences inspired him to go into the podiatry field with the goal of keeping people moving.
