Ava Liberman
Dr. Ava L. Liberman is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Neurology and an Attending Neurologist at New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical College, specializing in Vascular Neurology.Dr. Liberman received her BA from Barnard College, Columbia University where she majored in Philosophy. She then went on to obtain an MA in Philosophy at Stanford University. Dr. Liberman earned her medical degree from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine. She completed her internship in Internal Medicine and residency in Neurology at Northwestern University serving as a Chief Resident in her final year. Dr. Liberman then completed a two-year fellowship in Vascular Neurology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.Dr. Liberman is board certified in Neurology and Vascular Neurology. She provides comprehensive, patient-centered care to patients with stroke, transient ischemic attack, and other cerebrovascular conditions including cerebral venous thrombosis. Dr. Liberman is an expert in acute ischemic stroke diagnosis and treatment as well as secondary stroke prevention strategies. Her clinical practice includes both the inpatient as well as outpatient settings.Dr. Liberman's research interests include healthcare delivery, implementation science, clinical decision making, diagnostic error, and headache medicine. Dr. Liberman is currently funded by a K23 career development award from the National Institute of Health focused on improving acute stroke diagnostic accuracy. Her work has been published in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and she has been invited to present her work both regionally and nationally.
