Two reasons Dr Michalsen knew he wanted to become a doctor? His father and his love of sports. Dr Michalsen’s father was a small-town physician who taught him about the importance of caring for others. Additionally, loving sports inspired him to pursue a medical career where he could provide care to athletes as well as the general population. A fun fact about him: Dr Michalsen served as the head team physician for the Rockford IceHogs (Chicago Blackhawks minor league team)! Dr Michalsen’s favorite part about being a doctor is being able to meet people and hear about their lives, in addition to their different medical problems. “I enjoy figuring out what is causing their issue and the best way to treat it.
