Alexander Gilbert, MD, completed his specialty training with fellowships in nephrology and kidney transplantation at Harvard's Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He held academic appointments at Harvard and New York University before coming to Georgetown in 2013 to join the MedStar Georgetown Transplant Institute. He has expertise in both the pre- and post-surgical management of transplant patients, as well as managing living kidney donors.Dr Gilbert considers himself first and foremost a clinician and working directly with patients is the most rewarding part of his job.
