Dr Richard Ou graduated with honors from Harvard University where he was captain of the varsity swimming team and received many awards including the Rearden Award (Harvard Male Varsity Scholar Athlete), First Team All-Ivy, and Academic All-Ivy team. He moved to Texas to continue his education at Baylor College of Medicine, where he served as class president from 1995 until 1997. While a medical school student, his research at Baylor was supported by several research grants. He completed a medicine internship in San Francisco, California, and received his Ophthalmology residency training at Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA.
