Geropsychiatric Center at UW Medical Center - Northwest
The Geropsychiatric Center provides information and treatment for patients and their families about the specific problems related to the brain and body, along with understanding social stressors. Issues faced by adults often include depression, anxiety, and psychosis, often caused by side effects of medications, changes in brain functioning or the effects of a physical disease or medical condition. To help, the center offers an intensive, short-term day outpatient program. Participants attend three daily groups to learn coping skills and managing symptoms. They also meet individually with a therapist to develop a personalized treatment plan. As needed, patients see a psychiatrist to oversee continuity of care with their other physicians.
