Matthew L. Gerling, DO, is a board-certified internal medicine physician. Dr. Gerling earned his medical degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri. He completed his internal medicine residency at University of New Mexico School of Medicine, continuing there as chief resident in quality and safety at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Albuquerque. He then completed his fellowship in clinical informatics at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri.
Dr. Gerling sees patients ages 18 and above for all their primary care needs, including annual wellness exams, preventive medicine, and more. He treats chronic illnesses and other medical issues, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, depression, weight management, smoking cessation and acid reflux.
Dr. Gerling takes the minimalist approach to medicine, advocating first for lifestyle changes, non-medication, and non-surgical options for managing conditions. He focuses on educating patients on treatment options and assisting them with making their own health care decisions.
