Christine A. Garcia, M.D., M.P.H. is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College and Assistant Attending Physician at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Garcia cares for patients with lung cancer and patients with non-malignant (benign) hematological conditions. Additionally, she is the Director of Quality and Patient Safety and serves as the Chair of the Oncology Quality and Patient Safety Committee.Dr. Garcia received her undergraduate B.S. from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She received her M.P.H. from University of Illinois at Chicago. Prior to medical school, Dr. Garcia worked for the County of San Diego Health and Human Services and University of California San Diego. She received her medical degree from St. George’s University with a Distinction in Research. She then received her internal medicine training at State University of New York at Stony Brook University Hospital, where she also served as a chief resident. Dr. Garcia completed her fellowship in hematology and oncology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.Dr. Garcia’s research is focused on quality improvement initiatives in cancer care. Additionally, she is the recipient of two American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Merit Awards in Palliative Care and Quality Care for her research related to quality improvement initiatives. She is a member of American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology (ASH), American College of Physicians (ACP) and Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
