Dr O'Brien graduated from Cornell University College of Arts and Sciences and received her medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. She completed residency training in a combined internal medicine and psychiatry program at Rush University in Chicago, and is board certified in both disciplines. Dr O'Brien's clinical practice focuses on psycho-oncology and other conditions at the interface of medicine and psychiatry. Additional interests include implementing models of integrated care to improve patient access to psychiatric services, and resident education and training. She is currently the System-Wide Director of Ambulatory Services at Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, VA.
