About
Matthew Robbins
Matthew S. Robbins, M.D. earned his B.S. from Yale University and his M.D. from SUNY-Downstate College of Medicine. He completed his neurology residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine / Montefiore Medical Center, where he was also a chief resident and then a fellow in headache medicine at the Montefiore Headache Center. He served on the faculty at Montefiore-Einstein for a decade, where he was an Associate Professor of Neurology, Chief of Neurology at the Jack D. Weiler Hospital, Director of Inpatient Services for the Montefiore Headache Center, and Residency Associate Program Director. He joined Weill Cornell and New York-Presbyterian in 2018, where he is the Neurology Residency Program Director, an Associate Professor of Neurology, and the Louis and Rachel Rudin Foundation Education Scholar.Dr. Robbins is a Fellow of both the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) and the American Headache Society (AHS), where he serves on the Board of Directors as President-Elect, chairs the Education Committee, and directs the national Resident Education Program. He is currently the President-Elect of the New York State Neurological Society. He has served on the editorial boards of Headache, Continuum, and Current Pain and Headache Reports and reviews for dozens of peer reviewed journals.Dr. Robbins regularly presents at national and international meetings and has published widely on topics in neurology education and headache including migraine, cluster headache, new daily persistent headache, headache procedures, headache in pregnancy and the elderly, uncommon primary and secondary headache disorders, and CSF leaks. He was lead editor for the book Headache in the “Neurology In Practice” series. He has won awards including the Members’ Choice award for the best publication in the journal Headache, the Above and Beyond award from the AHS, two AB Baker Teacher Recognition Awards from the AAN, neurology teaching awards at both Einstein and Weill Cornell, and the National Headache Foundation Lectureship Award. He has led organizational initiatives related to headache including guidelines, consensus statements, and quality measures. He is an active participant in patient advocacy activities including Headache on the Hill, Neurology on the Hill, and is a graduate of the Palatucci Advocacy Leadership Forum of the AAN, where he has also served as an advisor and faculty member.
