“My dream job since childhood was to work in the medical field,” says Judith Huff, nurse practitioner. “I wanted nothing more than to provide comfort to people in need, to provide people with the resources they needed to prosper.”
Judith earned her master’s and bachelor’s degrees in nursing from Goshen College. She joins Beacon MedPoint Urgent Care as a nurse practitioner and has more than 10 years of emergency department experience. “I greatly enjoy the pace and variety,” she explains. “More than that, I like the opportunity to educate the patient and families during their moment of need.”
She shares Beacon’s commitment to clinical excellence, as well as our value of compassion. “I want to be the best provider I can be. I truly want people to feel cared for, and I will never stop improving both in knowledge and skill.”
These goals influence how Judith practices medicine. “It is about the patients,” she says. “I want them to feel that I am here to guide them, to partner with them in their health care decisions. I will provide as much education and appropriate resources as I have available, but they are the ultimate stewards of their health.”
While she educates her patients, she also learns from them. The most important lesson? “Patience. Be patient with myself and with others.”
This view helps Judith deliver outstanding care. “I want to provide quality care to every individual I encounter. Hopefully, they walk away feeling heard and more aware of their health care needs – and what they can do to see and feel improvement.”
In Her Own Words
Who are the most influential role models in your life? God and my paternal grandmother.
What was your first job growing up? What do you remember about it? I worked in registration for an oncology office. I was most struck that disease and illness affect all ages, races, socioeconomic classes and genders. And ultimately, if you can provide a little bit of love and support or a helping hand, then you have done something good.
In addition to medicine, what are you passionate about? Learning. I hope I never lose my desire to learn.
What are your hobbies, interests? Outdoors. I love to hike, explore, kayak, bike. I just love to experience that beauty that God has created.
What is something most people don’t know about you? I absolutely appreciate the small stuff and simple moments.
