Dr Mairura was born in Kenya and moved to Minnesota where he completed High School. His undergraduate education was at the University of Minnesota, Twin-Cities campus where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in biology in 2007. He then attended the University of Minnesota School of Medicine completing in 2011.
While in Medical school, he served as the vice president of the Student National Medical Association (SNMA), was involved as an Alan Page Scholar, which allowed him to serve underprivileged young adults.
