Jay Adlersberg

Dr. Adlersberg was educated at the University of Pittsburgh, where he graduated junior year Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, the nation's oldest medical school and one of its most prestigious. He completed a coveted residency at the country's most respected city hospital and training ground for clinical medicine, the Bellevue Hospital Center of NYU Langone Medical Center in New York. Dr. Adlersberg did his fellowship in Rheumatology and Immunology as an NIH-Postdoctoral Fellow at the Irvington House Institute of NYU Medical Center under the guidance of the late Edward C. Franklin, M.D., a world-renowned immunologist and member of the National Academy of Sciences.Dr. Adlersberg was recruited by Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1974 and spent the next six years teaching and doing biochemical research on inheritance factors in cancer and arthritis. He is the author of a host of peer-reviewed scientific papers, including several publications that led to groundbreaking discoveries on how human cells make cancer-killing antibodies. He is the recipient of research grants from the National Institutes of Health and the American Cancer Society.In 1980, Dr. Adlersberg left the world of the laboratory and clinical research to practice medicine in Manhattan. He is one of the most experienced physicians in New York in the use of biologic drugs for the treatment of severe rheumatoid arthritis and other conditions involving destructive inflammation.Dr. Adlersberg has been voted one of the best doctors in New York repeatedly by New York Magazine and the Castle Connelly Guide. On Oct 17th, 2003, he was honored by the Long Island College Hospital, Brooklyn NY as Journalist of the Year at a ceremony in Brooklyn attended by Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz. He was also awarded a New York City Council Citation for his "exemplary service to the City and the community through medical journalism", awarded by Gifford Miller, then Speaker of the New York City Council.Dr. Adlersberg is an Elected Member of the New York Academy of Science. He is a Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology and an Elected Member of the New York Rheumatism Association.In December 2004, Dr. Adlersberg was elected to the Board of Governors of the Arthritis Foundation, New York Chapter, where he continues to serve. He was selected to appear in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, and Who's Who in the World.
