Dr. Ammar Tahir, D.O. graduated cum laude from University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, IN with a Bachelor of Arts and obtained his medical degree from Ohio University, Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, OH. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Chicago (NorthShore). As a resident, Dr. Tahir achieved distinction by receiving the American College of Physicians Illinois Northern Chapter Outstanding Resident of the Year award. Dr. Tahir completed his fellowship in cardiovascular disease at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago, IL and is board certified in internal medicine and board eligible in cardiology. He also served as Chief Cardiology Fellow while at Advocate Illinois Masonic. Prior to joining Piedmont Heart in Atlanta, Dr. Tahir obtained further training in cardiac MRI at Duke University in Durham, NC. Dr. Tahir treats adult patients and has special interests in preventive medicine, quality improvement and advanced cardiovascular imaging modalities. In his spare time, Dr. Tahir enjoys spending time with family, architecture and traveling. Dr. Tahir is accepting new patients and welcomes most major insurance plans.
