Dr. Doarn is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and has earned the Certificate of Added Qualification of Hand Surgery. He was born in Columbus, Ohio and is an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan. He was raised mostly in Ohio, but also spent time in Virginia and Texas while growing up. He received his undergraduate degree at the Ohio State University and medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of South Florida where he served as chief resident and was honored with a distinguished resident award. He then completed a Hand, Upper Extremity, and Microsurgery Fellowship at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush.
